This is an art test I made for Star Citizen. I decided not to accept the offer due to personal reasons.
This work took 60h to complete, from the creation of the trim texture and bake to the implementation in UE5.
I created 18 modular pieces, with the use of custom/weighted normals, trim textures with POM used as decals for micro detail.
For the materials, I implemented edge detection for subtle edge wear, top vector detection for dust subtle accumulation, and I overlapped 2 normal and 2 roughness textures for micro and macro detail.
